Shallotte Rotary believes in helping our community. Over the last 15 years we have contributed over a million dollars to our community. We believe in literacy by helping with the STARS program that helps with 2nd graders during the summer months so they don’t fall behind in reading skills. Building a library during a pandemic so that our young readers will have access to books. Working with SMART START to educate reading fundamentals from birth to the age of 5. Helping the adults in our community to have access to large print books in our local libraries, we’ve also expanded our little library to have books for our adult readers. We believe in scholarships to our recent graduates in West, South, and North and early college programs so they can further their education with degrees. We sponsor youth leadership for our young adults so they in turn can help our communities growth and work in our community. We appreciate our teachers with a lunch at the end of the school year for all of their hard work and dedication to our students. We read the 4-way Test to 2nd graders to teach them about truth and fairness.
The Shallotte Rotary beautifies our community. We planted gardens in Mulberry Park and Shallotte Middle School. Help with the playground at Hospice.
We work closely with Brunswick Family Assistance. We help them with food drives, hurricane and disaster relief for our community relief
All of the money donated to the rotary goes back out to the community. The Shallotte Rotary is involved in many charities in Brunswick County. We support a variety of causes, we donate to Pawsability to combat animal cruelty, pet vaccinations and adoptions. We stuff toiletries in back packs for the Back Pack program with Wings Ministries. We support the Boys & Girls Club in an effort to mentor and guide them. We are helping families with their laundry costs at the local laundromat. We are involved in substance abuse recovery with Brunswick Christian Recovery Program. We support Alzheimer’s research and on an international level polio eradication.
Our club is made up of local business leaders, owners and residents of Brunswick County. The club has a rich history of the needs in Brunswick County. A lot of our members are life time residents of Brunswick County. Some members have only lived here for a short while but call Brunswick County home, they bring fresh ideas and newness to the club. Between the two we can focus on new and old ideas. We were incorporated in 2002 and have remained a leader in our town, county and district. We have 30-35 members every year. We lose a few and gain a few every year. Most of the club members have been members for years. Once you join rotary it’s in your blood and you want to help.
